Lives turned upside down
On August 29, 2005 the Mississippi Gulf Coast was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Packing winds well in excess of 100 miles per hour and historically unheard of storm surge of more than 30 feet, the storm left all of the Diocese of Biloxi's parishes and schools with some degree of damage. Some parishes and schools have only their foundations remaining.
Like the little flower pot in the photo found upside down outside St. Thomas School in Long Beach, many lives have been turned upside down by the incredible damage wrought by Hurricane Katrina.
Like the little flower pot in the photo found upside down outside St. Thomas School in Long Beach, many lives have been turned upside down by the incredible damage wrought by Hurricane Katrina. A mother of 2 children at the school said of the disaster: "My kids lives have been torn apart ... they've lost their home, their church, and their school."

But, we are a resilient people who know that with God's help and the assistance of our bothers and sisters in Christ, we can right ourselves again.
St. Vincent de Paul School, St. Thomas the Apostle Church and St. Paul Church continue to walk the long and arduous road to full recovery. But, we are not alone. We have already experienced God's love and comfort. We have received so much love and support from so many sources. And today, people continue to look for ways they can provide assistance.
These web pages are dedicated to providing information and photos which document how our churches and school were ravaged by this incredible storm. They also tell the story of our efforts to rebuild and recover. There is still much to be done; if you would like to help with the recovery and restoration efforts, please click the link at the left.
